Throughout the program, NuBuED IMMERSE will use privately chartered buses to transport participants to the various places of learning. Each bus will be driven by a well-vetted professional driver. Each seat on these 28-seater buses has a seat belt to keep everyone safely tucked in while we drive around the city.
The buses will pick up participants each morning from designated points (tbc) and return them there at the end of the day. It is expected that parents/guardians will:
Drop off their children/wards by 7:50am daily at the designated point for departure to the day’s venue(s) at 8:00am
Pick up their children/wards between 5:15 and 5:45pm daily from the designated points
NuBuED IMMERSE will provide each participant with nutritious snacks and lunch each day. We will take every necessary step to account for each participant’s allergies and any special dietary requirements. Participants should make sure to include this information in their registration information as requested.
Alternatively, participants who choose to bring their own meals will pay a lower participation fee. See the Dates and Cost section below for relevant details.
Still, we strongly encourage parents/guardians to:
ensure their children have eaten breakfast before dropping them off
give their children sufficient water for the day.
First Aid: There will be a first aid box in each bus and with the chaperones at all times. However, if a hospital visit becomes necessary, NuBuED IMMERSE will liaise with the parent / guardian on what to do.
It is important to state any health issues your child has when prompted during registration
Where necessary, please supply NuBuED with any treatment plans and deliver all medications to the chaperones each morning to ensure they are administered properly.
NB: NuBuED IMMERSE will only administer medication to participants with the express consent of their parents/guardians. Such consent will be requested during the registration process
This is a school trip, and as a participant, you are an ambassador for your school and your family. These considerations should be reflected in your conduct throughout the program. The overriding principle here is to show consideration and respect for others, particularly for your different hosts and for the behaviour expectations of their particular workplaces.
By joining the Day Camp program, students and parents/guardians acknowledge their acceptance of this Code of Conduct, which includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Participants must arrive punctually at the designated drop-off point for each day’s activities
Every student must actively participate in the program and follow the daily itinerary.
Every student should demonstrate proper attentiveness and communicate respectfully with their peers, hosts, and others while participating in the program
No student should engage in behaviours and/or activities that would be frowned upon by the host institution/organisation or by NuBuED IMMERSE
Any possession or use of or involvement with illicit drugs, cigarettes, or alcohol during the program is strictly forbidden
Participants are similarly forbidden from accessing and/or sharing any pornographic material whatsoever
No participant should injure/assault or threaten to injure/assault another or any other person
Parents/guardians must inform NuBuED IMMERSE in a timely manner of any instances of:
Late arrival or pick up
Participant absence for any reason (e.g. illness)
Inability to participate in a particular activity
Failure to adhere to the above rules may result in a student being asked to leave the program or sent home at the earliest convenience, with costs to parents.
1. July and August are the coolest and wettest months of the year so it is advisable to ensure that your child is always appropriately clothed and has to hand
An umbrella / raincoat
A jacket or cardigan
2. Participants should wear comfortable casual clothing—T-shirts, jeans, and sneakers should be fine. No crocs, please!
3. Because we will be going into production and manufacturing spaces, you’re encouraged to ensure that your child wears footwear that completely covers all their toes.
Much as we encourage the use of technology, we would not want tthese—hones, tablets, cameras, eetc.—to get in the way of human interaction or become an impediment to any participant’s full engagement with the program. If this should happen, we would ask the participant to put the gadget away or not to bring them at all.
NB: Some of the institutions do not allow photography / videography on their premises, especially on their production floor. In such places we will have official photographs taken and shared with participants and parents.
We fully expect that participants will only use any technology available to them for the needs of the program (e.g., recording, journaling, reflecting on their experiences) and for communicating with their parents/guardians as necessary (e.g., arrival time for pick-up in case of lateness).
To enhance effective communication, NuBuED IMMERSE will set up and operate a WhatsApp group for participants and their parents/guardians for the duration of the program. This is where we will share the information, videos, and pictures relevant to the program.
Each child should come along with some writing materials—a notebook and pen / pencil—to write down their thoughts at the end of each day
